Straight from its critically acclaimed premiere at the Venice Film Festival, the feature film directorial debut from acclaimed filmmaker Lance Oppenheim (Some Kind of Heaven), PRIMETIME is a tense psychological thriller based on the 2007 Esquire Article, ‘Tonight on Dateline This Man Will Die’. With Robert Pattinson starring as a fictionalised version of Chris Hansen, the host of the hit reality television series, To Catch a Predator, in an oscar-worthy performance.

In 2006, NBC Dateline correspondent Chris Hansen sets out to make television history with the creation of a reality television series where he goes undercover to catch and shame predators on live television. After his groundbreaking investigations become a cultural phenomenon and he books the prime spot on air, Hansen slowly descends into mutant of envy and ambition, masked as a righteous crusader. Eager to gain fame and recognition, the line between what is journalism and what is public humiliation becomes blurred, and public opinion begins to influence the way his investigations are conducted and filmed.

Featuring electrifying performances from an all-star cast, including Phoebe Bridgers, Skyler Gisondo, Anna Faris and Merritt Wever, PRIMETIME asks us to consider the ethics and dangers of crusading reality television shows, and how complicit we might be as an audience howling for justice. Oppenheim turns PRIMETIME into an audacious, imaginative, stylish and darkly funny American nightmare, with Robert Pattinson at his most magnetic and unhinged, giving one of his best performances yet.
